keynote Speaker

Our Keynote Speaker this year is Dr. Katherine Walstrom.  

"Now worm proteins are the ones that are cool."

Dr. Katherine Walstrom, Professor of Biochemistry, received her B.S. degree from the Univ. of Minnesota and her PhD from Cornell Univ. After a postdoc, she arrived at New College in 1998. Initially she focussed her research on RNA Helicase A from C. elegans. Later, she developed a project-based Biochemistry Lab course to make plasmids to express C. elegans metabolic enzymes. The rest of her research projects involved enzyme kinetics experiments with these enzymes along with some student-initiated side projects.
